چکیده

Restructuring of the power market introduced demand uncertainty in transmission expansion planning (TEP), which in turn also requires an accurate estimation of demand not served (DNS). Unfortunately, the graph theory based minimumcut maximum-flow (MCMF) approach does not ensure that electrical laws are followed. Nor can it be used for calculating DNS at individual buses. In this letter, we propose a generalized load flow based methodology for calculating DNS. This procedure is able to calculate simultaneously generation not served (GNS) and wheeling loss (WL). Importantly, the procedure is able to incorporate the effect of IR losses, excluded in MCMF approach. Case study on a 5-bus IEEE system shows the effectiveness of the proposed approach over existing method.

Impact of Demand Response Technique on Hybrid Transmission expansion planning and Reactive Power planning

In this paper, a model for hybrid transmission expansion planning (TEP) and reactive power planning (RPP) considering demand response (DR) model has been presented. In this study RPP considered by TEP for its effects on lines capacity and reduction of system expansion costs. On the other hand the expansion of the transmission system is an important subject, especially dealing with the new i...

Improved Binary Particle Swarm Optimization Based TNEP Considering Network Losses, Voltage Level, and Uncertainty in Demand

Transmission network expansion planning (TNEP) is an important component of power system planning. Itdetermines the characteristics and performance of the future electric power network and influences the powersystem operation directly. Different methods have been proposed for the solution of the static transmissionnetwork expansion planning (STNEP) problem till now. But in all of them, STNEP pr...

A Mathematical Model for Multi-Region, Multi-Source, Multi-Period Generation Expansion Planning in Renewable Energy for Country-Wide Generation-Transmission Planning

Environmental pollution and rapid depletion are among the chief concerns about fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal. Renewable energy sources do not suffer from such limitations and are considered the best choice to replace fossil fuels. The present study develops a mathematical model for optimal allocation of regional renewable energy to meet a country-wide demand and its other essential as...

Transmission expansion planning based on merchandizing surplus of transmission lines

This paper proposes an optimal transmission expansion planning (TEP) which is based on determining share of each line in merchandizing surplus (MS) of system, determining by Independent System Operator (ISO). The more share of a line in MS of system denotes the priority of a line for expansion. The procedure of determining MS of each line in a power system is based on determining the MS share o...

Sub-transmission sub-station expansion planning based on bacterial foraging optimization algorithm

In recent years, significant research efforts have been devoted to the optimal planning of power systems. Substation Expansion Planning (SEP) as a sub-system of power system planning consists of finding the most economical solution with the optimal location and size of future substations and/or feeders to meet the future load demand. The large number of design variables and combination of discr...
